The Art Commission Process:
General procedure guideline:
Down payment (50%) >> Concept/sketch >> Watermarked/low res Final Art >> Final Payment (50%)>>Final Art
(Communication is important between the 2nd and 3rd stage)
Commission order of $30 or less is sent as one payment at the beginning of the commission order.
Detailed commission procedure guideline:
Depending on the kind of art, usually a sketch is produced according to the client's description after a down payment is made. When you are satisfied with the general layout and pose from the general sketch, I will then produce the line art (if applicable) and coloring of the piece. When the piece is finished, you will be shown a small sample image with watermark over it for proof. If you are satisfied with the image, you can then send the other half of the payment and you will be sent the original high resolution image. Small changes can be made but main poses may not be changed after the sketch is finalized and locked down. Please note that through out the process I will be showing you the progress such as finished lineart. The down payment is used to pay for the work hours put into the project and is non-refundable. This is to guarantee payment for work hours if the client is to choose not to follow through with the commissioning process. Please make sure you are satisfied with the sketch work layout before we move on to the coloring stage. (This may not apply to certain styles of art.)
To place an order please send your request via email and you will be informed of the quote, schedule, and other details of your order. If you have any special needs or a budget limit, please also include this in the email.
Commercial Art, Non-Commercial Art, and Copyrights
Commission art is available in both digital and traditional media. Traditional art commission is currently only available for dimensions equal to or smaller than 9 x 12. Please provide as much detail as you can for the picture. Any details not provided will be left to the artist's interpretations. For all commissioned art, I will be putting the finished pieces into my online art gallery as part of my portfolio unless otherwise specified by the commissioner. For non-commercial art, I keep all rights to the picture including the right to change, repost, resell, etc. (Though this usually does not happen) I will NOT resell non-commercial artworks that involve portraits or photographs of another person provided by the commissioner.
Non-commercial art can only be used by the commissioner for private purposes. This means that the commissioner may not edit, repost without crediting the artist, or use the art for profit. Commercial art have a higher commission rate than non-commercial art, however the commissioner purchase some rights to the image. For either commercial or non-commercial art, the commissioner is required to credit me as the artist of the image in the case of a publication, whether it is in digital or tradition form. Commercial art commissioners may choose to purchase explicit rights or non-explicit rights to the image. Please contact me for details on commission rates.
